ABOUT
SUSAN JOY
New York City based fashion editor, brand consultant and creative director Susan Joy is known for her thoughtful and strategic approach to fashion. Her keen sense of color, texture and print and knack for mixing elements with a modern twist and a touch of whimsy, have made her a sought after stylist within the fashion, beauty and advertising industries. Susan has worked with many emerging and established brands as well as The New York Times where she has been a regular contributor for over a decade.
Among commercial clients Susan is regarded as a fashion alchemist who brings a fresh editorial sensibility to commercial products. Her strategic approach considers the brands’ big picture, marketing opportunities, customer experience as well as the nitty-gritty of color, texture, tone and trend.
As a brand consultant, Susan provides support to designers and their teams, helping them clarify and focus the brand, it's story, seasonal offerings and customer experience. Jumping in as needed to fine tune products, develop seasonal concepts, strategize business or creative goals, or create effective presentations for industry or consumers. Creative problem solving is at the heart of all Susan does. She is particularly interested in navigating the intersection of style and sustainability.
Susan is a mentor to emerging designers in the CFDA Fashion Incubator program and also works with the International Woolmark Prize supporting the USA regional finalists.
Born in Australia, Susan has a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She recently moved from her plant filled penthouse on the Lower East Side to the greener pastures of Brooklyn where she now lives with her daughter Izzy.
